April 2023

On a bright and sunny spring day, I headed out with my Kentmere 400 to the original home of the Kentmere brand from the time when they only made photographic paper. These images were made in the Kentmere valley, near Staveley in the English Lake District. The mill, on the banks of the River Kent was the original photo paper factory but now is a packaging company with the same brand, although a separate company from Ilford who now make the current Kentmere film and paper. The last two images were made a few miles away on the small fell of Orrest Head that overlooks the town and lake of Windermere. The film was again exposed at box speed but given N-1 development, to try to tame the contrast of the harsh sunlight, in Kodak Xtol 1+1.
